PRESENT PROJECT

PRESENT Project was founded and curated by Hadley Nunes in 2014. For five weeks Present occupied 10,000 square feet in the Cooke Street warehouses in the neighborhood of Kaka’ako in Honolulu, Hawai’i.

This project brought together approximately 5,000 members of the community and students from local schools to experience large-sale installation artwork produced onsite by five international artists. The 2014 artists-in-residence included Florence Carbonne, Caledonia Curry, Dinorah de Jesús Rodriguez, Sally Lundburg, Keith Tallett, along with educator Bryan Welch of Guilds NYC—who created the NEST Workshop for young students.

Kamehameha Schools and Our Kaka’ako were highlighted as our principle sponsors showing their dedication to expanding the boundaries of what is possible for artist residencies where education and community participation are central to the mission.

Partners included The Honolulu Museum of Art School and The University of Hawai’i Department of Art and Art History. For more information please visit www.presentproject.org.
